BIOGRAPHY
Water is a Sydney-based graffiti artist whose distinctive style
has taken him from the concrete overlooking Bondi Beach all
the way to the Berlin Wall – and countless streets in between.
Heavily influenced by his youth spent in and around surf and
skate culture through the 80s and 90s, Water first made his
mark on the Sydney street scene nearly 15 years ago.
He has since built a name for himself through his traditional,
New York-reminiscent take on the art form he has long paid
homage to, Water’s classic approach to graffiti is kept fresh by
his bright choice of colours and modern play on type – a style
that has kept him heavily in demand both in the art world and
among his various commercial clients.
In addition to his years of experience in the street art world,
Water has been professionally trained with a Bachelor of
Design and has translated his visual language into a career
as a graphic artist. Through the years, he has built up a portfolio
that includes work for large corporations such as Telstra, Foxtel,
Le Coq Sportif and Boone Skis as well as smaller, more
specialised enterprises, including fashion label Strummer and
the South Sydney Youth Service. He has participated in
numerous collaborations and exhibitions, the most recent
alongside Teaz, Spice and Dream in May’s Lane and regularly
seeks out creative opportunities that challenge him to engage
his visual code in new and exciting ways.
